page 1 message from the pastor--January 31/Feb. 1
Dear friends and family at Buffalo United Methodist Church--
I am blessed and humbled to announce that I will be recommended to become a full elder at this summer's West Virginia Annual Conference, dated June 6-9. I will keep you informed if you would care to attend the ceremony.
Our MYF (Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 PM)is going on successfully, having regular attendees numbering 7-10. We eat a meal, do some discussion of a Bible story, usually do a craft and/or play games, and sometimes watch a video appropriate for the ages involved. COME JOIN US, OR INVITE SOMEONE YOU KNOW TO JOIN US! We have an age ranging from 7-13 currently.
This Sunday, February 5, we will celebrate our annal Souperbowl luncheon and take-out Sale so people can gather their Superbowl party supplies easily...and we can donate to the Celebration of Mission, which supports all the Annual Conference charities and mission projects. Come join in, we will have AT LEAST 6 different soups or chilis to choose from, many different sanwiches (roast beef, ham, turkey, egg salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, and of course, good ol' peanut butter and jelly!). We will be in busines from @11:30 to 1:30, after worship, and I would welcome any guests who come! (See the article in the Wednesday PUTNAM METRO section of the paper!) There will also be desserts!
Let us continue to have good weather, we pray!
Come on back and worship with us! We welcome you!
Your friend and pastor, Rev. Rick Waller
YOU ARE IN OUR PRAYERS!
We are a church based in prayer for all of God's children and hope you can find a moment in your lives to pray for us as we continue ministries this spring.
We hope that we can join together, with each other and any guests who would care to come with us, to celebrate many upcoming events in our church life--
and now for the particulars of the church...
We want to welcome all, including former members or visitors, to our Sanctuary on Sunday Mornings at 9:45 AM, to our Sunday School classes at 11:00 AM.
We are located near the center point between Huntington and Charleston, off of I-64 and near the Toyota manufacturing plant (see the directions on our home page). We hope to serve a growing community and look forward to welcoming many to this part of Putnam County, one of the fastest-growing, expanding counties in our state.
We feature traditional worship experiences, with Holy Communion shared the first Sunday of each month. We try to serve our community in many ways-- including free Thanksgiving dinners for the community, service projects for community needs, participation in food ministries for the area, quilting and sewing clubs, United Methodist Women, community involvement in ecumenical events at holiday times (Christmas and Easter), and most important, a church community that is warm and friendly.
We hope to see you soon!
